Best Parks Scarborough

Fall is just around the corner but before we embrace the cozy weather, let’s seize the remaining days of summer and make the most of the great outdoors. It’s the perfect time to soak in the warmth of the sun while laying on the lush green grass or a sandy beach. And when it comes to scenic parks and beaches, Scarborough is a treasure trove.

Let’s discover Scarborough’s finest beaches, picturesque parks, and all they have to offer:

Rosetta McClain Gardens

This scenic park boasts a splendid array of gardens, each adorned with vibrant flowers and raised planters. A wide variety of flowerbeds and hedges surrounds the centrepiece boulder, as well as across the pathways and gardens which makes it a true haven for flower enthusiasts. The roses and butterflies at this park are worthy of a mention, so be sure to check them out. This fully-accessible garden also has a rock fountain surrounded by a pergola. There are tons of benches to sit on, relax, and admire the beauty of nature around you. Rosetta McClain’s panoramic views of Lake Ontario and spectacular flower arrangements have made it a popular backdrop for wedding photoshoots.

Bluffers Park & Beach

As the name suggests, this park is a part of the Scarborough Bluffs and was actually designed in order to improve public access to the Bluffs. This park has a gorgeous sandy beach perfect for a run, a picnic, or a volleyball game. There is a boat launch and a visitors dockage as well.

Guild Park & Gardens

Once known as ‘Guildwood Park’, this location was the site of an artist colony but has since transformed into a sculptural sanctuary adorned with scenic gardens. It is known as one of the most popular outdoor spots in Scarborough, and rightfully so. This estate, with baroque and neoclassical structures, huge art deco limestone blocks, and terra-cotta columns is a sight to behold. Surrounding these remnants of historical structures are lush green gardens with flowers and beautiful walking trails. It also has access to the waterfront trail, so be sure to take the scenic route. If you’re planning to take transit, there’s a TTC stop right outside this park making it extremely accessible.

Port Union Waterfront Park

Out of the many striking Google reviews for this park, one of them says, “This park is one of the most serene parks in the neighbourhood”, and we can see why. With great views of the water, plenty of well-kept trails suitable for walking, hiking, and biking, a separate walking area, picnic spots and a large playground – Port Union is the place to be before summer ends. If you’re into water sports, this is a good spot for canoeing and kayaking.

Morningside Park

If you appreciate a good outdoor workout spot, Morningside Park is the ideal place for you to break a sweat with a picturesque backdrop. This recreational park is Toronto’s largest park by area. With a creek running through the park and lots of ground to cover, it makes for the ideal escape from the city. This park also sports a splash pad for kids, and benches to sit on while your little ones play. In addition to all that, you can also have a barbecue here before the summer ends!

Woodbine Beach

Located at the foot of Woodbine Avenue, this wide curved beach is the largest beach along Lake Ontario and is one of the largest beaches in Ontario. It is also one of the most popular spots for picnics, sunbathing and swimming. Lifeguards are stationed at the beach, so even if you’re a novice swimmer, you can fully embrace the remaining days of summer with confidence. The Ashbridges Bay and Martin Goodman Trails run through the park at the beach, which also includes a playground, outdoor fitness equipment, volleyball courts, picnic shelters and even a restaurant!

Whichever park or beach you choose to visit, we hope you make unforgettable memories before summer ends. Learn more about our upcoming community Cowdray Court in the heart of Scarborough by visiting us here.
