When you’re raising a family, it’s natural to want a neighbourhood that’s welcoming, safe, friendly, and offers good amenities. As such, Scarborough, a diverse and vibrant neighbourhood in Toronto, offers a range of features that make it a great place for families. From excellent schools to lush green parks and playgrounds, this neighbourhood has seen quick growth in families moving here.

Affordability

Only 45 minutes East of Toronto, this neighbourhood is in close proximity to the city and offers property rates that are a lot more accessible. Scarborough is a great fit for families considering the cost of living has significantly risen in the province. 

Plenty of Greenery

With adorning popular landmarks such as the Toronto Zoo, The Bluffs, and the Rouge National Urban Park, this neighbourhood is a great place to call home. Additionally, you can find many parks and trails around the neighbourhood which gives you options to stay active and admire nature. Our personal favourite is Rouge Beach – the prettiest spot in Toronto!

Diversity

Scarborough is home to an incredibly diverse population, Scarborough certainly makes for one of the most welcoming and accepting neighbourhoods. A melting pot of different cultures, this neighbourhood gives young children the opportunity to be exposed to different cultures, learn, and grow up in an inclusive environment.

Education

This neighbourhood boasts a robust educational infrastructure, encompassing a wide range of schools, colleges, and universities. Scarborough is home to numerous public and private educational institutions that offer comprehensive programs and innovative teaching approaches, ensuring students receive a well-rounded education. The schools in Scarborough prioritize inclusivity, fostering an environment where students from various backgrounds can thrive and learn from one another. Even if you’re opting for other schools in the city, Scarborough’s connectivity offers an easy commute.

Recreation

When it comes to recreation, Scarborough definitely knows what they’re doing. From lip-smacking food to refreshing drinks, from rage rooms to escape rooms – you can find just about anything you’re in the mood for. The Putting Edge, Go Smash, Locked-In, Fratelli Village Pizzeria, and Lamanna’s Bakery are some of our personal favourites. 

Transit

For those who want to avoid traffic or skip the drive, Scarborough is well-connected to Downtown Toronto and neighbourhoods close by via Line 2, GO buses and trains, and TTC buses. Especially for students residing in the neighbourhood, the 902 goes to Markham via Centennial College making it a swift and easy commute. Additionally, the Scarborough Subway extension of Line 2 is underway! It will extend Line 2 North from Kennedy via Lawrence and Scarborough Shopping Centre until Sheppard.
