Refresh your Home for Less than $50

Whether your condo is starting to feel a bit stale or you’re just looking for a simple project to tackle this spring, there are so many easy and inexpensive ways to breathe new life into a small space without spending a lot of money.

Not sure where to start? We’ve got you covered. Here are some of the best home projects you can do yourself for under $50 that will make a big impact.

Use Paint

While painting the walls is a great way to refresh your home, paint can be used for so many more fun projects.

Here are some ideas for using paint to modernize you condo:

  • Paint your dated kitchen cabinets a bright white or add a pop of colour
  • Paint wood doors or trim to brighten up your space
  • Refurbish old wood furniture pieces and paint them a fun colour

Add New Hardware to Cabinets and Drawers

The hardware on your kitchen and bathroom cabinets and drawers is such a small detail, but replacing them can really make your space feel so much more modern. Replacing them is incredibly easy, plus, depending on the style you choose, hardware is typically pretty inexpensive.

Add Floating Shelves

If you have lots of wall space in your kitchen or living room that you’d like filled in, try some floating shelves. Floating shelves are a great way to add a bit of coastal bohemian flare to your walls and can be used to display books, plants, trinkets, and so much more.

Buy Second-Hand Decor

Facebook marketplace, garage sales, and thrift stores are some of the best places to find unique furniture and decor items for a really great price. Not only is this a great way to be more sustainable, you can find some one-of-kind pieces that no one else has.

DIY Wainscoting or Feature Wall

Wainscoting looks incredibly elegant and is a great feature to have in a smaller space. It’s also a very simple and inexpensive project you can tackle on your own. Just head over to a hardware store to get your tools and materials and get to work. If you’ve never done this kind of project before, we recommend getting help from a friend or family member, or at least watching a few online tutorials.

Not sure about wainscotting but still want to make your walls look more interesting? A shiplap feature wall also makes just as much of an impact but has a more subtle farmhouse vibe.

Tackling a DIY project like the ones we mentioned above is a great way to make a smaller space like a condo feel more fresh and modern while incorporating some of your personality into your home. Keep an eye on our blog for more articles on condo living and interior design.
