20th Anniversary Celebration

2022 marks the 20th anniversary of this incredible fundraising event. The Walk to Conquer Cancer typically draws thousands of participants and this year is sure to be no exception. People of all ages and walks of life come together for this one-day event to support the important work done by the hospital and to honour friends and loved ones whose lives have been affected by cancer. This one event alone has helped raise over $190 million since the first walk was held back in 2002.

Our Involvement

This will be Gemterra’s 6th year of participating and we’re looking forward to being part of the 20th anniversary celebrations. We consider it a privilege to support this annual event and in the past 5 years we have raised close to $60K to help fuel breakthrough cancer research and enhanced care initiatives. We fully support The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre’s vision to Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime and are happy to give back to the community in this way.

2022: Back To In-Person Participation!

For the past 2 years, we have not walked with other participants, who normally number in the thousands, but we have still gotten together on the day of the walk as part of our commitment to show support. This year, the event is once again being held in person and we are looking forward to getting back and taking part alongside everyone else. The walk allows participants to challenge themselves and because each person has secured support from their friends, families, and colleagues, it is truly a group effort.

Yan Wang, Honorary Chair

He is proud to take on a leadership role for this important event that sees one powerful community coming together in service of a common goal: to Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime. Speaking of this honor, Yan said: “For a cause near and dear to my heart, thank you to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and all the amazing doctors and researchers who have made great progress in their fields.  We will conquer cancer one day!”
