There’s nothing quite like a leisurely brunch, whether it’s a traditional Sunday affair for a big group or a more casual weekday meal enjoyed with a friend. That’s why we like to have our restaurant list ready to go, so that when the opportunity arises to dine out midday, we’re prepared and know just where to go. Here is our list of the best brunch spots in Scarborough.

Chef George

Chef George is a restaurant known for traditional Filipino cuisine and hearty breakfast and lunch dishes. It’s a small, casual spot where you’ll feel the love in the food prepared by “your personal chef”. Choose from their popular Manilenos breakfast (two eggs, garlic fried rice, tomato and onion salad), longanisa, chicken adobo, beef tapa, and daing na bangus. There are many other favourites on the menu as well, including pancit canton, lumpiang Shanghai, wings, and lomi soup. They also do party trays and catering, so if you feel like hosting brunch at home, let Chef George do the cooking. Please note that this establishment is closed Sundays and Mondays.

Cora Breakfast And Lunch

Cora’s is known for its massive menu, with lots of sweet and savoury options. There’s something to please every diner (of every age) here, including those who may be looking for a lighter and healthier choice. You can be as decadent as you like with one of their sweet dishes (waffles, french toast, pancakes), try a savoury plate (omelettes, skillets, eggs, benedicts, toasted sandwiches), or try a salty-sweet combination and have a little of both. You’ll get a big heaping of fresh fruit to accompany your meal of choice—or breakfast potatoes, if you prefer. Add a cup of coffee or some fresh juice and you’ll be set for the day.

Sunset Grill

Sunset Grill is another great family-friendly spot that is affordable and offers lots of choices for both breakfast and midday. Any weekend get-together or weekday meet-up that takes place here automatically makes for a memorable casual brunch as the food comes quickly, your coffee cup is constantly refilled, and there’s always a nice buzz of activity. They offer all-day breakfast (including french toast, pancakes, waffles, and omelettes), as well as sandwiches, burgers, salads, and lighter meals. The menu even includes trainer’s choice meals and vegan options.

Eggsmart

Breakfast, brunch, or lunch is on the menu at Eggsmart, where there are lots of choices to suit whatever you might be craving. In addition to their famous four-egg omelettes, you can try one of their signature egg skillets, signature or specialty breakfasts, or Eggsmart bennies. That’s just the start of the menu: you can also order farm-fresh salads, burritos, poutines, ground chuck burgers, or handheld sandwiches. Eggsmart is another casual, neighbourhood brunch option that is great for groups, couples, or even singles. If you happen to be an early riser, the restaurant is open from 7 am.

Markham Station

Markham Station is a popular 24-hour diner where you can take advantage of all-day breakfast specials. This means you can have brunch anytime at all, regardless of what day or time it is. All of your classic favourites are here, from four-egg omelettes to eggs benny. And yet if any of your dining companions would prefer something a little more lunch-like, they can have their pick; there are seafood dishes, pasta, steak, burgers, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and fajitas as well.
